GroundShare Dance Theater Ensemble offers students the opportunity to perform and work alongside local choreographers and teaching artists in a year long exploration of a student-generated theme. Their artistic investigations culminate in an original dance theater production performed at the Reston Community Theater. All of our dancers are an integral part of the creative process.

Youth Performance Ensemble

Open to dancers ages 8-16, GroundShare Dance Theater Youth Ensemble offers dancers the opportunity to engage critically in the artistic process while developing a foundation in the art of modern dance. The centerpiece of their artistic investigations are the Youth Dance Theater Ensemble Rehearsals, which take place on Sundays from 3-5. In these rehearsals, ensemble members are provided modern dance training while working collaboratively to choreograph dances and script dramatic skits that weave their experiences into each performance piece. Ensemble members also have the option to deepen their investigations in GroundShare’s Modern Dance Technique Classes, which incorporate ballet and dance composition into the study of modern dance.

Adult Company

Groundshare’s Adult Company includes dancers of all ages and experience levels: some have danced their whole lives, some are rediscovering an art form they haven’t practiced in years, some are teaching artists with years of performance experience. What they have in common is a love of dance and a belief that movement and music can reveal truths in inspiring and creative ways. These dancers work together to choreograph performance pieces that culminate in a joint production with the youth ensemble in June.

The Company meets from September – June in preparation for the June performance. Rehearsals take place from 7:00-9:00pm on Tuesday evenings at Sun and Moon Yoga Studio in Falls Church.
